Annunciation School’s Summerfest This Weekend

Annunciation School’s first-ever Summerfest takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Festivals are nothing new for Annunciation School (located at 3545 Clifton Avenue), but this one falls at the perfect time weather-wise, when everyone wants to be outside. Co-chair of the event Alice Derrick filled me on the details.

“We’re going to kick it off with WARM 98,” she said. “They’ll be there for music on Friday at 6 when it opens. We’re going to have live bands Friday and live entertainment all weekend.”

Summerfest promises to be fun for adults, teens, tweens and toddlers.

“We have a petting zoo on Sunday and miniature pony rides,” Alice said. “We’re going to have the Cincinnati Circus there all three days, and we have a Kiddy Corner for toddlers. There’s a space there for parents. The children have climbing, toys, face painting, and arts and crafts. While they’re doing that the parents can sit at picnic tables and relax.”

Other parental options include a tiki bar with pina coladas and plain and strawberry margaritas—and after a couple drinks the adults may wish to win a little money, which they can do by playing cards, the big six wheel and roulette. And don’t forget the raffle tickets: the June 7th drawing prize is $500; the June 8th prize is $1,000; and the June 9th prize is $1,500.

After winning money a bunch of money folks can sample some of the food, which will include, for the first time at an Annunciation event, Thai Express. Also, La Rosa’s will provide pizza and China Kitchen will have egg rolls. On Sunday there will be a chicken dinner from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

The very best thing, about Annunciation events, though, is the chance for people from all over Greater Cincinnati to reconnect with old friends. Every time I attend an event at Annunciation it surprises me how many people I know; truly, it really brings ‘em out of the woodwork. The warm weather can only enhance that.

Here are the hours:

• Friday, June 7, 6:00-11:00 p.m.
• Saturday, June 8, 6:00-11:00 p.m.
• Sunday, June 9, Noon-6:00 p.m.
